Geotechnical Applications for Cellular Concrete on Transportation Projects

Synopsis: Lightweight Cellular Concrete offers a solution to some common geotechnical construction problems, replacing more traditional materials such as rigid foam insulations, EPS blocks, expanded shale, pumice, granular fills and subbase gravels, flowable fills, and grouts. This overview will introduce attendees to the properties and characteristics of Lightweight Cellular Concrete, and how it can be produced and applied onsite, using three real projects as case studies.

Presenter: Doug Lavis, C.E.T., will be presenting. Doug has worked with CEMATRIX (Canada) Inc. since 2005 - first as Project Manager running projects in the field; then as Technical Services Manager managing the Engineering support side of things; and most recently as a Senior Technical Sales Representative. These evolving roles have provided broad exposure and experience in the Cellular Concrete industry, equipping Doug to speak to both the technical and constructability aspects of this unique product.
